Through its Members, the International Development Finance Club is engaged in every major area of global development. From climate mitigation and adaptation to poverty alleviation and improved access to social inclusive development, the IDFC is funding a better world, through a wide range of different projects. Here are some examples of our Members’ work on climate finance:

Carbon Efficient Index – ICO2Brazil’s BNDES pioneers a greenhouse gas-efficient market index to promote transparency. ICO2 encourages companies with actively traded stocks to assess, disclose, and monitor their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping to stimulate a low carbon economy.
Energy conservation in VietnamJapan’s JICA provides transformational support for energy conservation in Vietnam. The program covers a comprehensive range of development support from policy roadmaps and institutional improvements to the introduction of energy-saving equipment at local factories.

Global Climate Partnership FundGermany-based KfW broadens the financing for renewables and energy efficiency in Mexico, Tunisia, Indonesia and 10 other countries. The GCPF provides dedicated financing to businesses and households through an innovative layered risk/return.
Amazon FundBNDES strategically protects the Amazon forest with money for projects to prevent, monitor and combat deforestation in the 5.5 million sq. km environmentally vital biome, as well as foster sustainable conservation.

PLAC+e programVenezuela-based CAF funds and develops projects for clean energy and climate change mitigation throughout Latin America. The PLAC+e program supports countries, institutions and individual projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Energy for the FutureFrom its headquarters in South Africa, DBSA supports an innovative alternative energy project in Namibia. The newly built Ohorongo Cement Plant meets its energy needs by using biomass created from the fast-growing encroacher bush, which local farmers regularly have to clear from their farmland.
